IN BANKRUPTCY.
DISCHARGE REFUSED. Per Press Association. DTJNEDIN, May 10. In bankruptcy ; to-day Cornelius Johns, an auctioneer, applied for an order of discharge. Johns was adjudged a bankrupt on creditors' petition fifteen years ago. The-debtor- now pleaded that he had been unable to pay his creditors anything meanwhile. Mr Justice Williams said that if handrupt had done without- his discharge for so long lie could do without it for the rest of his career. It apoeared from the report of the Lands Court that if bankrupt had been caught under ■t warrant for his arrest issued in 1893 he would probably have been convicted under the penal elnuses of the Act and sentenced to hard labour. Before bolting to San Francisco, bankrupt made an arrangement about his goods that entailed heavy costs upon the estate.
