WEST'S PICTURES

This evening will witness the return of est's lectures and the presentation of the much-talked of art study "The Ked Hand. : ' This picture is claimed'to bo unique in its class and is a practical demonstration of the wonderful advancement mado in cinematography. "The Keel Hand" from a dramatic point of view, is full of interesting and thrilling situations and episodes; and from an artistic point of view the attention is centred on the artists who take part in this production, and the manner in which they do their work. The scene of the plot is in Paris and shows the habits and ways of the higher as well as the very lowest class of Parisian gay life, and an attractive item to .be introduced is the famous Danse des Apaches, which is now the craze in-Europe. The intensity of action in this dance is shown with wonderful clearness and reality. To follow this art study others will be submitted, including some of the famous Charles Dickens' works, chief amongst which, is "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," taken from the unfinished work by this well-known author. An interesting industrial study is a picture which takes the audience through the publishing works of "The Scotsman" and shows the process of producing a newspaper from the written copy to the sale, of the printed sheet in the morning. The stirring "Rifle Bill" series will bo shown, and the scenic subjects will include views in St. Petersburg, Holland, Benares and South of France. The popular De" Groen vice-regal orchestra under Mr S. It. White, will render the overture "Pique Dame" and the humouresque "The Merry "Widow," which introduces tlie many ways this popular tone is hackneyed. The popular prices of Is 6d, Is and 6d will be charged, therefore everything should tend towards a big house to welcome "back this popular entertainment.
