The morning papers contain complimentary references to the play of the New Zealand ladies. The "Sydney Morning Herald " says, that the visitors have shown to what perfection the forehand drive can he brought. On the oth.r- hand they will derive benefit from some of the backhand strokes and volleying of their opponents.. The contest wherein Mrs Colquhouii and Miss .linker defeated Misses Ward and. Well wood- was a remarkable one. It started at 10:30 a.m., and finished at I o'clock. The'third set ran into 30 sanies, the match-taking GO games.
Brookes' play, though marked by flashes of great brilliancy, was lacking in the later stages of the inter-State matches, in which it, wauled sting and forceful volleying.
