Heavy stocks of frozen mutton and lamb should prevent considerable advance for some time to come. Since our last telegram prices of good descriptions of tallow arc par to 3d higher; other descriptions arc unchanged. The next public sale of tallow will be held on 21st April. At the auction sales, 1100 bales of rabbitskins were offered and 1030 sold, prices being Id to ljd per lb higher."

A BOOM IN WHEAT. Received 1.40 a.m., April 10th. LONDON, April 9. The wheat markets are strong, and holders are very firm. .Owing to the substantial decrease in the world's weekly shipments, and the prospects of still smaller shipments in the near future, there- is anticipation of higher prices. The American markets arc excited. On a report that 50,000,000 bushels of American wheat will be required in the next four months May wheat at Chicago yesterday touched 125.1 cents, with a sharp corresponding advance in New York. The American visible supply is 61,986,000. Australian cargoes arc strongly held. MarchApril shipment is quoted at 435. Sales of three cargoes have been made at 42s Od, two at 42s 3d, three at 425, and one at 41s 4J-d. Australian on spot is selling readily at 43s 4d to 43s (id. Flour is firmer, and good sales arc ruling in Loudon at 30s to 31s, ex store. Glasgow holders are asking for 32s Gd. For butter there is a slightly better demand. Choicest colonial and other sorts arc neglected, aud prices arc nominally unchanged. The Bradford wool market is firm; forties 12-Jd, forty-sixes 14d, common sixties 25d, super 2(5d, sixty-fours 27d. New Zealand 4 per cents arc quoted at 105Jd, 3J r per cents. 99, and 3 per cents at 87. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., have received the following cabin message from their London Office, under date April Bth, 3909: —"Mutton Prime Canterbury mutton, light 3 11-16 d per lb, medium, 3 7-16 d per lb, heavy 2|d. Lamb— Light, 4|d, medium 4|d, heavy, 4Jd. The demand has improved^'
