! Mr Drake, postmaster at Wainiate, returned from his mouth's holiday on Wednesday last. Dr. T. S. Pearse, of Temuka, left for Karamea on Monday, where lie has been appointed resident surgeon. Dr. Stanley Brown, sou of Mr Elijah Brown, of Temuka, has been appointed senior house surgeon in the Wellington Hospital. Mr and Mrs Arthur Rhodes and family leave Christehureh to-day by the s.s. Moeraki, en route to England. They will joiuthe P. and O. Company's boat at Sydney. The Government labour agent at Ashburton, Mr R. S. Bean, has just retired after a service in that town of about eight years. He will be succeeded, by Mr Lightfoot.
