Ex-Lieutenant Woods is bringing an action against the Army Council, claiming £77,500 damages on a charge ;;F unlawfully . removing him from tinGrenadier Guards. In December 1907 a- military court of enquiry at Chelsea, investigated the allegations, regarding the treatment of Lieutenant H. C. Woods, of the Seeoivi Battalion of the Grenadier Guards, by his senior officers and referred.the case to Major-General Sir Charles Fergusson for his decision. .It was alleged that Lieutenant Woods, because he .was more studious than his brother officers, found the progress of. his career impeded owing to his superior officers boycotting iiini in the hope.that he would on that account he induced to resign. : : -As a result of, the enquiry, Lieutenant Woods was summoned under article 477 to resign or be removed. He resigned protesting afainst a. decision wincn. on 4.. Ie ground that he and his advisers considered insufficient and inadequate, closed his military career.
