THE MAYORALTY.
To the Editor of the" Timaru Herald." Sir,—ln view of the coming Mayoral election I wish to make a suggestion. At the present time and during the next term of office some very important municipal matters have to be dealt with i.e. drainage works, street improvements, municipal buildings, water works, public library, etc., and various loans have. to be secured and consolidated. Now, as our present Mayor has taken a keen and very active part in municipal matters, it is very desirable that his term of office should be extended, and I would suggest that a deputation should at once wait upon him and get his consent to be nominated. Seeing the very great interest he lias taken in public affairs, I daresay lie mifht he induced to act for another term. His Parliamentarv duties would stand but very little "in his way. I am, ete " A RATEPAYER.
