NEW ZEALAND MARATHON.'. I'cr Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 25. The New Zealand Marathon Race from Rnkaia to Ashburton Domain; a distance of 1.8 miles 154 yards, run nnder the auspices of the Ashburton Amateur Cycling and Athletic Club was decided here to'-dayiu'yoYy trying boat. Twenty-two runners were nominated and 18 started, including some of i\w best known distance men of tho Dominion. Guy Raskins'' was scratched. The placed men ' wore, practically leading nil the way and the first two finished strongly, the result being Dixon (Christehureh), llir GGmiii. 10 1-5 sec 1 S. W. Moore (Ashburton), 2hr Imin, 20s"c. 2 W. F. Simpson, 2hr. Bmin.-50 1-5 Half the competitors did not finish and the placed men were the only ones who qualified for tho sealed handicap '»i connection with the race, the limit lnviif e- i -'->i'-"d before any of the others hud finished.
