TENNIS.
TIMARU v. TEMUKA. The match, between these.clubs was played at Timaru yesterday afternoon, in weather that was highly favourable. It resulted in a close mush, alter exhibitions of splendid tennis.. Perhaps the finest game of the day was. the first men's doubles, in which the Timaru pair just got home,- alter dashing play by all engaged in it. The combination was excellent, the volleying very deadly, and the serving and placing were very good. The combined games were also very good. -In the game in which a six-footer met li our boy," the play was very fine, and the genial giant met more than his match. Afternoon tea was lavishly dispensed to players and visitors, all of whom spent a very enjoyable afternoon. Scores: — Singles. Tk. Tu. Miss Poarse v. Miss Sotham ... 2 7 Miss Guild v. Miss C.
