ApjpJoby, fancy •foods dealer and photographer, and by E. L.. Biirt, baker, and confectioner, wore with their completely destroyed. Tlie fprinbr shop was owned by LaWHon's estate, iiiid the latter •by .lames Arkle of k Dnntidiri. Crisp's, solicitor's office, owned by Liiwson's estate, DalgctyV store it nil tho Government Stock Inspector's office were also destroyed, But the contents weio saved. The fire started in Appleby's shop, but there is no clue as tp ..its origin. The water was turned off at the reservoir and an'hour elapsed before it was available . .Most of tho members, of the lire brigade too were away at Auckland. Nothing is yet available as.to insurances. A NIGHT ALARM. A small blaze among sonic rubbish at the rear of the D.I.C. promises caused tho constable on night duty to arouse, the firemen at the_station about 2 a.m. on Sunday, morning.
