MASONIC.
A very interesting ceremony took place at Pleasant - Point,; on Thursday, this being the constitution , and dedication of Lodge St. Martin, No. 162. The meetings'* were held in the c Technical School, and commenced at 4 o'clock. The Grand. Lodge .officers, commissioned by his Excellency Lord Plunket, to conduct the ceremony of opening the new lodge, were as follows: M.W. Bro. .F C. Binns, P. Pro. G.M.; 'V.W. Bro. G.W. Huhue, P.P.8.8., as S.G.W., W. Bro; G. E. Collins, S.G.D., as .T.G.W.; V.W. Bro. Rev. Gibson, P.G.C.,' as G/C.; W. Bro. C. Kay, P. GSB as G. See.; W. Bro. Alfred Budd, G. 8.8., as S.G.D,: W. Bro. Dr S. J. "Cook, G.P., as J.G.D.; W. Bro. W. A. Daivson, P.G.S., as G.S. B.; W. Bro. W. M. Duncan, P.G.S., as G.S.; W. Bro. ,T. H. Davis, as G.S. The ceremony was a very impressive one, and carried out, with the dignity which is usual at all Grand Lodge functions. The address of V.W. Bro. • Mackenzie Gibson, on tlif> "Aims and Object of Freemasonry," was of especial merit, and the whole ceremony was unique ] as far as the brethren in the district are .concerned.; The attendance of the brethren was large', over 100 being present, including representatives fo ' lodges • Civic, Caledonian. St; Augustine, Pareora, Mackenzie, St. George, Geraldine, St.. Johns, and Winchester. The brethren adjourned for tea as the guests of Lodge St. Martin. At 6.30, the lodge was resumed, and the installation of W. Bro. W. C. Brydon, and the investiture of his officers was carried out by the Grand' Lodge officers. The officers for the year 1909-10 are:— W.MI, Wor. Bro. W. C. Brydon; S. W., Bro. H. D. Lowry; J.W., Bro. A. E. Benn;; Chaplain, Bro. Rev. S. Hinson; Treasurer, Bro. J. A. McLeod; Secretary, Bro. Jas. Stewart; S.D., Bro. A. McPherson; J.D., Bro. M. Andrews; 1.6., Bro. W. J. Blackwood; Tyler, Bro. P. A. Dunn. The bretliren were . then.. entertained in the adjoining room, and a. very pleasant hour was spent in toast and song; The visiting brethren complimented the W. M. of Lodge St. Martin, on the excellent arrangements which had been made for their comfort, and expressed their belief that the lodge would be a success, and an-acquisition to the ranks of the Grand Lodge. The catering arrangements, which were very satisfacwere entrusted to Bro. Budd, of Tiniaru.
