TEMUKA BOROUGH COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Borough Council was held en "Wednesday. Present—The Mayor and Councillors Evans, McLean, Caldcr, Judson, Barr, and Frew. The secretary Temuka Gas Company forwarded contract for lighting, and pointed out that the directors had acceded to the Council's request, though they in no way recognised any liability to erect lainp columns without payment. .

Mr Marchant, C.E., wrote re drainage extension works, and also with reference to the question of doing the work by contract and day labour.

Accounts for £7B 18s id were passed for payment. '■ The total of. rates outstanding amounted to £GB 13s, and the ten per cent, penalty to £6 17s 4d. Rents outstanding total £39 0s Cd. The receipts from all sources amounted to £lB 16s sd, and the bank overdraft was £233 4s 9d. .

The overseer's report was read, and ■certain, recommendations were ordered to be given effect to. A lengthy discussion ensued on the benefits of having a team and dray solely for the Council's use, but nothing was decided upon./ At the Board meetings, £2 Is 3d was passed for the Arowhenua domain. Mr J. Mcßratney sent in- his resignation as creek cleaner. Accounts amounting to £2 4s were passed for payment for the Temuka Domain Board and £l3 18s for the Arowhenua. Cemetery Board.
