Wanaka, 5.5.,. about March 3rd. The s.s. Storm is due here to-day from the south, to load cargo for Wanganui. The s.s. Waihora, now at Lyttelton, is due here on Friday to discharge a large quantity of Newcastle coal. The Komata left Westport yesterdav morning for Wellington. Lyttelton and Timaru. She has 1000 tons of coal to land .here, on account of the "Westport Coal Company. The s.s. W r anaka left Auckland, on Saturday evening for Timaru. via Bluft and way. ports. She has i.bout 140 tons of "sugar and general ea/go, and a quantity of timber for this port. She is due here about March 2rd. Mr* J. Macpherson, chief engineer of the training ship Amoknra, has been transfered to the Tutanekai, to fill the vacancv caused by the retirement ot the chief engineer, Mr. Sinclair. Mr. EJS. Pyke, second engineer of the liitanekai," has been appointed cbief engineer of the Amokura. Sir James Mills, managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, states that his company is about to build another 6000 ton steamer of the same type as" the Marama, for the fastgrowing trade between New Zealand and Australia. The vessel will be somewhat largerthan the Marama, and will .be :fitted with reciprocating engines and twin screw. She should arrive in Sydney in 1S10, : -in time for the sum-mer-traffic. .
