PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr Scott, M.P. for Tuapeka, was banqueted by his constituents at Roxburgh last niglit. Practically all the Opposition members in Otago were present. A Wellington Press message says that Captain Edwin, Government Meteorologist, is amongst the Civil servants to be retired on account of the age limit. He has been 33 years in the Government service. Word was received yesterday that Fred. Greenwood has passed the matriculation examination. This name had been omitted from the previous list, and the addition now means that the Timaru Boys' High School passed all the candidates sent up by it for matriculation, a result that is exceedingly creditable.
