BRASS BAND CONTEST.
Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Feb. 18. Notwithstanding the troubles the North Island Brass Band Association lias had recently, the contest commencing at Hastings next Monday promises to be very successful. The number of entries compare more than favourably with last year's contest at New Plymouth, and ten bands will compete in the "A" and "B" grades. There are fourteen entries for the quartette competition, eleven lor the B flat trombone, twenty-one for B flat cornet, eight for the soprano cornet, thirteen for the euphonium, nine for the trombone trio, five for the flugel horn, fifteen for the K flat bass, four for the B flat bass, fourteen for the B B bass, eight for the G trombone, eleven for the E flat horn, and eleven for the baritone.
