ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
Per Press Association. AVANGANUI, Feb. 12. Alex. Harper, aged 27 years, of Kai-nvi, dropped dead this evening. The cause of death is supposed to be heart failure.
WELLINGTON, Feb.: 12. Wm. Homewood, boarding at a house in Molesworth street, was found dead in his bedroom to-day, under circumstanTies pointing to suicide. In a cup in the room some blue sediment, supposed to be from dissolved match heads, was found. Homeward had been out of work, and is said to have been depressed on the evening preceding his death.
INVERCARGILL,. Feb. 12. J. McLean, 20 years of age, son of a settler at Thornbury, was missed from his home at 8 o'clock on Thursday evening. He had been peculiar in his manner of late, but his parents attached no importance to his disappearance. This morning, however, they searched along the banks of the river, where they found his clothing, and his body was' recovered, in a hole near by in ten feet of water.
