Mr Gillett, Governor .of California, announced that if the rprojeeted census of Japanese in California shows the necessity, Congress wilj be urged to enact the exclusion of Asiatics. Mr Roosevelt, in a telegram to Mr Gillett, congratulated . all who had aided to kill the Japanese School Children Bill, and adds—" The way California had done the right for the nation makes it all the more obligatory for the nation to safeguard California's interests." Personally he would do his utmost to this end;
