THE GRAIN MARKETS. There is practically nothing doing yet in new grain, though a few samples of both, wheat and oats have been "brought into town. Merchants are prepared to give up to 3s 6d on trucks, for good.milling wheat, at country stations, while for oats, Is 3d on trucks, country stations, is being offered. New potatoes are now plentiful, and arc commanding £4 10s per ton. ST. ANDREWS SALE.

The.usual fortnightly sale was held at St. Andrews yards yesterday. The entry was very small, this no doubt being. accounted for by the fact that farmers are at present too busy with Tiaryest operations to attend. The few" lots brought under the hammer met with good competition. Prices were as follows: —Pen fat ewes 12s, 47 do. 10s, pen fat and forward lambs 13s sd, 70 do. 13s, 60 do. 12s, 240 do. lis lOd, 50 s.hi. ewes 14s 6d. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. Per Press Association. : CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. The fine weather of the past fortnight having enabled farmers to get through a fair amount of threshing, there'-is now a large quantity of wheat on offer. A good deal of it is on the soft side, but there are some samples, that are in better condition, and occasional lines of Pearl that are fit for milling at once. Earlier in the week business was being done on the basis of 3s 8d and 3s 9d at country stations, but during the last three days buyers have reduced their limits by 3d per bushel, and a number of sales have been made at the lower figures. A few days ago 2400 bushels of Pearl in good condition were taken at 3s lOd at a country station, to fill an immediate order, and several lots of out of condition grain were bought at 3s 6d for fowl wheat. During the last three days-3200 bushel? of Tuscan, and 6900 bushels of Pearl have sold at 3s 6d, and 4000 bushels of Hunters, and 100 bushels of Tuscan at 3s od, at country stations, the lower priced Tuscan being at a more distant station. For dry samples of Pearl, fit for immediate use, probably 3s 7d would be paid. Most of this wheat is for the south. There are very few oats on offer, as farmers have evidently, been giving their whole time to harvesting and threshing wheat. The price for ordinary feed lines of oats is Is 3d to Is 3Jd. Barley is dull of sale, and 3s to 3s 3d are the best offers. "
