Second'round of section winners:—Scott (Caledonian) ll beat Bentley (Dunediu) 14: Eraser (United) 22, beat MeDougall (Uirisichurch) 20 Goldstoue, a bye. Scott got home nicely from Bentlev. ±ne Caledonian man was plavmg 'a great game, and got away- with the lead. Bentley was rather oft colour and was not nearly-so deadly in his drawing as on the previous da'y. The game between Eraser aiid MeDougall was an extraordinary one. At the eighth head Eraser was 15 up, the ChrisSchurch man having only a single to his credit. McDougall* made a great recovery and scored so wen that in the last head he had tied. An extra head was played, and Eraser got a couple of shots out of it.

Semi-final—Vareoe (Victoria) 17, beat Eraser (United) 16; McLaren (Uuuedin) 18, beat Goldstone (Waimate; 16. _ The final, McLaren (Dunedin) 20, beat Vareoe (Victoria) 13. Jn this gan.e Vareoe started off with two two's, but McLaren netted 3 at the third nead, and equalised with a single at the fourth head. On the next head Vareoe lay one shot, and as McLaren failed to draw,_ the Victorian was one up. In the sixth head Vareoe drew rignt on the jack, and lay a shot, but McLaren shifted him with his next bowl and lay one. After a good drawing contest in this head McLaren lay two points. Vareoe, by excellent drawing, carried off a fine three in the next head, making the score 3 to. 6 in his favour. The Dunedin player equalised matters on the eighth head by some clever play. Vareoe lay short, and McLaren playing a little heavy followed through and displaced Vareoe, gaining two shots. Vareoe was lying two on the next end, and McLaren failed to alter the position with his last bowl. McLaren got a single on the tenth, cutting Vareoe out of a four by trailing the kitty. On the eleventh head the score was 10 all, Vareoe sending the kitty to Mc- ' Laren but saving a two. On the twelfth head Vareoe added a single, and McLaren again equalised with a single in the 13th head. > Vareoe got a single out of the next, McLaren shifting a second with a drive. In the 15th head McLaren get a two. His first was bumped up by Vareoe, and the second was secured by a fine draw; his third bowl overran the jack, but he was one up on the game. He notched a single head in the next, and by fine drawing added a three in tne following head, which made the score 17 to 12 in his favour. In the 18th head Vareoe got a single, missing a second in the measure. At this head Vareoe was four down, and his chance of winning against the experienced southerner was reduced to a minimum. McLaren practically clinched things by cutting liim out of two shots in .-ie 19th head, and lying a shot himself with his third bowl. On the 20th head Vareoe lay a shot with his bowl, but McLaren with a fine draw got <n and beat him for the point. In the final head McLaren scored a two, and thus won the singles championship by 20 to 13. ■ luter-lsland Match North v. (S") 21, beat Campbell (N) 16. Totals —South 183, North 160. On the seventh head scores were 58 to 24 in favour of the north, lint on t'io fourteenth south were, 114 to 108. The match was-practically a scratch match and was by no means representative of the two islands. ' Mr C. L. Keast has received a sheaf of telegrams from friends and wellwishers throughout the Dominion congratulating him and his team on having won the New Zealand Bowling Association rinks' championship.
