Dissension among the , members of the Fren«h Society Alliance Francaise led to the recall of the Maistre-Consul by the French Foreign Office., in consequence of representations made the British Ambassador in Paris. It is said that both the Australian authorities and the British Ambassador wore misled into conveying to the French Foreign Office representations which culminated in the Maistrc's recall. THE S.S. The steamer Enncrdale, which struck a submerged obstruction in Bass Straits on the voyage from New Zealand, has been docked. The plates were.buckled and broken for 30 feet, and a hole large enough for a wheelbarrow to pass through' was made.
