Pioneer arrived in the roadstead at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. and «ot to her moorings about G p.m Arrangements hare been made to send a .squad of men ashore to take part in the jubilee procession to-day. The Pioneer will leave, again this evening for Wellington. THETAIXUI. The Tainui, the latest addition to the iine fleet of steamers owned by the Shaw, Sarill and Albion Company, is expected at Timarn to-day. In outward appearance the Tainui is not- unlike ;'.the Arawa, but she is throughout a vast; ; improvement upon that vessel. and- is an. exceedingly line looking steamer, with a beautifully modelled hull. A striking feature of the vessel is the great height of her navigating bridsre. ..Immediately below the bridge is the captain's house, and below this are the officers' quarters, which are exceptionally well appointed. In every respect -the; Tainui can lay claim to being the best, appointed boat engaged in the New iiealand-London trade. On the passage but the Tainui proved herself to be -a stieedy vessel, and arrived at Wellington three days ahead of time-table. The Tainui. which r? a steamer of 10,500 tons gross register. was'built bv Messrs-Workman. Clark aiid Co.. of Belfast. Captain T. Moffatt is in command, Mr Arthur is chief engineer, and Mr C. J. Hobden chief steward. The Tainui's passenger accommodation is exceedingly good. The vessel is fitted throughout with electric light and bells, while large insulated chambers are provided for the storage and preservation, of fresh provisions. meat. fish, and fruit. The mail, specie and haggage rooms are on the main deck amidships. There are live holds. three of which are insulated and fitted out for the carriage of frozen meat, Imtter, cheeesc",. fruit, or other refrigerated cargo. The two after holds are" reserved for the reception of general cargo, and all the holds are so designed as to be almost "entirely free oi obstruction. The cargo is .worked by 1-1 powerful steam winches, with the same number of derricks, and a special heavy derrick of steel girder construction'arranged to lift heavy weights up to 30 tons.
