SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. NELSON, Dec. 9:The Supreme Court, sessions opened * to-day before Mr Justice Cooper. The Judge complimented the grand jury-on tho absence of serious local eriniej there being only one Nelson ease, that of J. 5 girl committed'for sentence on her"o'.Vn . confession of attempted incendiarism. Two other cases were from Westport. V. Margaret Larkins, aged, 16, a domestic servant, came up for sentence on confession of causing, a small; fire j?i Mr Maitlaud's residence, Trafalgar street south, as she desired to avoid washing day. The medical evidence showed that the girl was erratic, and should bo kept under control, but she had been deserted by her father.' The Judge said that he would look into the question of age, as the girl appeared to be only fifteen, and postponed consideration. ■ -..'.'. No bill was found against Robert 11 ayes, charged with attempting- to pick the pocket of one Penrose at Westport. ~
William J. Ryan, butcher, charged with breaking, entering and stealing at Westport, pleaded guilty. Sentence was deferred. I
