THE RED SEAL PICTURES. An entertainment of a high «der was riven ia the Theatre Royal laet evening, when Valentine'* Red Seal Pictures were shown- There was a large andience, the popular price* which were charged, being no doubt responsible in part for so many people attending, while there were no counter attractions on. Mr Valentine'* Company consist* of x quartette, those associated with hivn, being, Mr H. Edwards, Mr Hawkins, and Miss Esther Nordon. Mr Valentine operated the machine by which the pictures are shown, while Messrs Hawkins : and Edwards supplied some "vocal, numbers in very acceptable style, and Miss Nordon presided at the piano. The company came here from Cbristchurch where they have been showing*" to good house*, and they have been doing good business right throughout the district. The pictures shown last night were Tery good,, most, if not all of them being new, and they were put on in a manner which left nothing to be desired. From many of them, pleasure and instruction could be obtained at one and the •ome time, while others again caused roars of laughter. One of the most attractive wa« a long film depicting a lion hunt. Every phas* of the exciting rAase was pourtrayed on the screen in very realistic style, and at different stages of the hunt, the audience' applauded heartily particularly at the dose, .where the hunters are «een to shoot their quarry. One of the bunted.lions is seen to kill a pony which it came upon tied up. "lafe on the Ocean Wave," depicting a great army of youths doing the varied work on hoard a training ship," was a very popular picture, the seamen being shown finally, at play and in the dinner gong rush: Other good films wen—"The Corsicans Re venge," -Love and Duty," "Father** Lesson," "March Winds," "The Magnetised Man," "True to Hie Trust," "The Dodgeir tA-Duck■■; Hunt," and "Animals" At intervals; " songs were given by Meesrs Edwards and Hawkins, and these were weffl received.
