Mr Aequith declining to receive a suffragist deputation. . a serkis of rushes was made by the suffragettes, and ineffectual attempts w«re'niade to reach the Houae of Gouitnorsj. - The crowd, including an element of unemployed and Mim? hooligans, tried to break- the police cordon, aud-some persons were injure<l in the crtixh. The admirable police- arrangements rendered the demonstration an ignominious failure. Twenty-four' women and thirteen men were arrested. The "Times" and "Daily Chronicle" declare that the suffragists are now making themselves the nucleus- of mobs in which dangerous elements and rowdies are conspicuous. They ure becoming a nuisance, calling for Bremer treatment than heretofore. WOMEN GO 'lo PRISON. .MRS SYMONS CRITICISED. Received 10.15 p.m. .October 15th. LONDON. October 15. Several of the suffragists who were arrCbtett elected to <xo lo prison for a month instead of offeriug the recognisance of sureties for good bshavionr for a year. -Mrs Symoiis was'ei-verely crilici-:o-d for not applying to Mr K:ir Hardie himself for admission to the lobby. Her only want" of premeditation was to apply to Mr Irdis (Mr Hard'e.'s secretary).
