CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS* P«r Press ABiooi&tionWELUNGTON, • Sept. 18. The conference of the New Zealand Post- and Telegraph Officers' Association at present- sitting •in Wellington passed the following resolutions to-Uay: —" ilia conference places on record its. sympathy wit>h Messrs Cummins and Schmidt, - ihel>ers of the Association, in the unfortunate position • in which, they were recently placed by being falsely accused of theft and forgery, and hereby very 'heartily congratulate them Von their . happy and full acquittal." ; The conference also expresses indignation at the .harsh manner in which they were treated while' under arrest, and trusts that never again will any- of its menibeis b*- subjected *o such stir chamber methods. The conference also hopes that the real offenders' will be delected shd given punishment for the original -offence and for the crime which they committed in having innocent parties arrested, and the conference- asks rhe. d-rjpartingni; for; an assurance that in future before officers are arrested the department. will hive reasonable evidence, against them.
