THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. The " Scarlet Troubadours" from London have just completed a mb'sti successful tour through Australia, and judging from the laudatory press criticisms which sliave preceded them their performances .should prove just as popular in New ■Zealand. They are a comedy costume company, and their efforts have be*n to appeal not only to the educated mueicjan who enjoys good music, but also to tho*e who like" their mirth enlightened bv. the introduction of refined humour and harmless mir'-h. The style of programmes they present and tlieir way of presenting them are new to this part of the world, although in England they have become perhaps the most fashionable and popular form of musical entertainment! in vogue, and notable amongst such e'milar companies are "The Follies."' Mr Edward Branscombe has peißonally selects the artistes forming this company not only for their qualifications as good singers but also for vheir histrionic abilities, an important qualification, as the musical numbers given are not only sung but are acted, whether it be a song or a concerted number. Misa May Glenn (prima donna) is from the Lyric Theatre London, Mr Sydueey Manneriug was principal tenor with the MoodyManners Opera Co., Mr Alfred Cunningbam anad Mr Ford Walt ham were both late member* of the famous London Messier Glee Singers, Mr Percival Mackenzie (the art-humouru«t) is in the front rank of England'* crayon art ma. and Mr Edgar Warwick enjoys the reputation of being one of London's foremost society entertainers. The Company will appear here for two nights only, their reason opening at the Theatre Royal on Thursday erening n«t.
