The second rntind of the competition for the trophy presented' by Smith and Smith was complet-ed on Saturday last with the following results: —A. Jones bcal J. Trotter, sen.; R. Giilingham bea.li •?. Trotter, jun. \ C. Martin beat R. E. Gillinzham; D- McCaskill beat Johnson; C- Harper, A. Giilingham and R. O'Brien won theire by default. In the third round which is to be completed by Saturday nest Martin meels A. Jones Haiper mentis I?-- Giilingham; AlcCopkill mef'ts A. Giilingham, and \\ igley meets R. O'Brien. ' . • The- match married v. Single, which was to have been played on Thursday last was postponed on account of the weather. Tt will most likely be played on Thursday next. ' Mr Giilingham has offered a. trophy of a. guinea, for the firct player who does the 18 holes in 100 or under- On Saturday last- Roger Gillineham just mitssed the trophy, taking 101 to do the double rouiid. The semi-fina'& of the Timaru Golf Club's tenior championship were played last- week. Mr T. Wright beat Mr Mannering by sup and 4to play; Mr F. Tasker beat. Mr T. Lynch by 3 up and 2 to play. The final game itakes place on Thursday week, September 3rd (weather permitting).
