BOROUGH -BY-LAW CASES.

• H. H. Brown was charged, -with cycling in .Stafford Street -without a • light, .on : '1 he evening of August 11th. He pleaded not giiil.'y. -Constable I'ardy said lie saw defendant, at 9.30. p.m., when.he had no light,- hut he dismounted -SO yards - further on at Shepherd's corner and lie.up. Defendant denied riding without,-'a light. He stated that he Jit up at McGnier, Davits' shop and rods nway; the light went out by Doyle's shop and he dismounted, relighted and rode on as far as Hanson's where he again dismounted immediately on seeing the light become extinguished." His Worship told her she was just as liable on a moonlight as on any other night, even though there was not the danger. He ordered her to pay the costs.. .1.. Teitjens and- J. Wilson were fined 5s and costs, and costs only, respectively, for similar offences, the latter's offence having been on a moonlight night. —' "' '' Edward Fairbrother and .T. Halford were each fined 5s and costs for riding cycles on footpaths. Mrs. Wren, represented by her son, entered a plea of guilty of allowing a heifer to wander about at large on (he roads. Gaoler -Wethered stated that he had previously cautioned defendant without avail. A fine of 5s and costs was impreed. D. McNab admitted having left, his horee and vehicle standing on Stafford Street, and having been a sufficient distance form them to lr.ee control. RubInspector Green said that defendant, went into a bank. and that the horse -wandered away and had to be stopped several times by people passing by. There was no lock on the wheels. A fine of fe and costs was inflicted.
