The market shows a rather firmer tendency than for some time past, though, owing to millers buying for actual present requirements only, the outlet for producers is somewhat restricted. Seconds are quoted at- from 3s to 3s 3d. . Oats.—The market for shipment is almost lifeless .the reason being that reduced prices at the Bluff have reflected on this market, consequently a check has been given to business. Potatoes are only in moderate demand at £3 15s for Derwents and Up-to-Dates on trucks, sacks in. A considerable quantity of oaten sheaf chaff has been sold for shipment recently. " The s.s. CHEISTCHURCE MARKETS. Per Press Association. CHRIST'CHURCH. August 21. The recent enquiries for wheat have given market a firmer tone. The demand was from North Island millere -whose stocks were running out. Very few grower? were willing to fell, and most of the lots that have changed hand* were small. For pearl and Tuscan alone or with part Hunter* 4s at country stations has been paid, but for Hunters alone pot more than 3s lOd would be offered. Oafs are still dull of Pale, and chaff is ■weaker in consequence of new Australian coming to hand.
