POLITICAL ITEMS.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. August 20. At a meeting of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee, it was decided to contest six seats ,in Wellington and suburbs, if funds are available. Tin? nominations received at present are. as follows:—Mr D. McLaren, secretary of she Wharf Labourers' Union; Mr W. Jonss, secretary of the- Federated Seamen's Union; Mr C. Chapman, president ••f the Typographical Federation; Mr W. Wagstaff, secretary of the Carpcntero' Union; Mr G. Campbell, organiser of the Political Labour League; and Mr W. Young, secretary of the Australian Federated Seainen'b Union.
CHISISTCHURCH, August 20. -At a, meeting of the Christchuxeh branch of the Political Labour League, it was resolved to announce Mr Jas. Thorn as a Socialist candidate for Christchurch sooth. A resolution was passed asking Mr I}. G-. Sullivan to stand for Avon in the'same interests. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the cost of maintaining a labour newspaper during the election period and report at the next meeting.
