THE MAORI TEAM. . Hress' Aissociation-By Telegraph-Copyright SYDNEY, August 18. • The Rugby League has decided not to sanction its players participating in another benefit match for the Maori team tomorrow'. The reason given for the refusal is that after the Maoris had stated that they were prepared to depart for New Zealand 'on Wednesday last, they entered into negotiations to play a match at Melbourne, and give hakas during the visit of '.the Fleet. The Maoris' management claims that everything was done above board andi that they were justified in trying to raise funds after the failure of the last benefit match. • AN AUSTRALIAN GAME. In i-eply to a question,' "one delegate declared' that there was no prospect whatever of the Rugby Union giving way regarding off-side play. Another replied, "'That settles it."
