The "Spectator" says that the rise of the United States Navy ought to menu the peace of the Pacific, if mischief-makers are not allowed to represent the Navy as a weapon to be used in a race feud between the English-speaking people -and the Asiatics. INDIANS IN THE TRANSVAAL. JOHANNESBURG, August 17. A meeting of 3000 Asiatics at Johannesburg burnt 400' certificates granted to Indians and Chinese. Gaudhi declared that he preferred a lifetime in gaol to seeing British Indians treated as serfs.
