Social Doings for the Week. The Zingari football club's social, held in thei Assembly Rooms on August 6th was a. very successful function. The hall was beautifully decorated with flags and festoons of artificial flowers. Mrs-. Hnrdley's hand supplied excellent music for tlie dances. Clayton, navy redingote costume, cream lace vest, dark blue hat: Mrs. Sotham, black cloth long silk coat, black and white toque; Miss "Dryden, pale grey cloth, cream laee vest, sable furs; Mrs. McCahon, black cloth, handsome silk coat, black toque, with white osprey, Mrs. Arthur, black cloth costume, white laee vest.

-Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Brown gave a very enjoyable '" At Home-," in 011iver"s tea. rooms on August 4th, in honour of their eldest son. who had attained his majority. About forty guests were present. Vocal and instrumental item'; were given, and a dance brought a very pleasant evening to a close at midnight. Miss Bnby Seddon, the yonngest daughter of the late Premier, wore a very handsome gown of shaded! mauve chitfon. at the? Wellington Racing Club's ball, held in the Town Hall recently. At the Garrison Officers* ball. Miss Seddon was effectively gowned in pale bhze chiffon taffeta, trimmed with lace. "OHELLIE."
