A TERRIBLE VOYAGE. Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright Received 11.55-p.ro., August 6th. SYDNEY, August 6. The barque Josefa encountered a, gale off Land Howe Island which increased in fury as the coast was approached. A tremendous sea struck the vessel on Monday night, and the ballast consisting of pebbles, shifted 1 . The starboard rail went under, the keel of the vessel showing. The masts were cut away, and the crew worked below for 50 hours in trying to get the ballast back, but it proved terrible stuff to control. The men had nothing to eat all that time, but bread and raw salt pork. When, two miles off the shore, were put out and! held the vessel" till she. was rescued.
