CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
To the Editor of the " Timaru Herald." Sir, —Every kind-hearted person, will agree with, correspondents who have protested against the cruel treatment of the poor animal referred to in your commw.. und yet 'there is similar cruelty in the practice .ot hare hunting, which bears a startling resemblance to this', case. "Evil is wrought by want of thought as much as by want of heart," and those who indulge in this pastime may not have looked at it from thus point ot yiew. Trusting that they will do so and that poor puss, whether "tame or wild, will be more humanely treated.—l am, etc., PITY.
