On the other hand, Mr Asquith lias received an appeal signed by 144- of his suppoitfeis for 'Jit< leduotion of armaments. It emphasises the need for a survey of the situation and the figuies in tlie Budget statement for 19061907. Sir J. Brunner and Mr J. A. Macdonald were th« authors of the -appeal.
