WELLINGTON, July 30. Two stewards belonging to the steamei Moana," Joseph Haslettand Joseph 'Scott, were arrested to-nighty and will be charged- at Court, in the morning.with having opium suitable for smoking in their possession. ; /■"■■■ .
The Wellington Education Board to-day resolved that in the opinion: of this Board section 141 of the Education Act, 1904, should be so amended that all pupils should be required to attend school the whole time the ' school, is open, except where satisfactory reasons are given. A copy of the resolution is -to be sent to the Minister 'of • Education and the. Education Boards are to be circularised ou the subject.
DUNEDIN, July 30.
At the Police Court this morning* Daisy Edwards .was committed for trial on a charge of permitting an instrument to be used on licr.
