BRITAIN AND GERMANY.
BETTER RELATIONS DESIRED

The Labour Party's executive has invito German workmen to co-operate in defeating the war propaganda and .the spreading of unfriendly suspicions. It urges them to assist to secure permanent good relations between the two nations. Sir Edward Grev's-speech in the House of Commons • yesterday gave general satisfaction •on the Stock Exchange and : Berlin Bourse. / German and French newspapers approve of the speech. < Mr Lloyd George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, in a letter to the " Times," denies ; assailing the two-power standard to which the Government is committed. He declared that he contended that nervousness on the part- of Germany was ■ less blameworthy than in the case of Britain since she had no such standard for lier army.
