FIRES.

AN OUTHOUSE DESTROYED,

A. few minutes after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon an adarm at the Timaru Fire Brigade station was sounded, the reason being that a telephone message had been received to the effect that there was a lire at Mr Vincent's house in Wilson street. The brigade turned out smartly, but their services were not required, for ths ■ Wilson street sub-station being in close' proximity to the scene of the outbreak, a reel was taken from there and a lead was turned on to the burning buiklino-, -which was a two-storied stable-shed, close to Mr Vincent's house. The shed, which contained a quantity of house feed, a bu<rgv and about £3O worth of carpenter's Vols, was tofcjlly destroyed. The buggy was got out, bufc very much damaged. Mr Vincent had some insurance, £2O or £25, on the place. The tools belonged to his son, and the loss of these will be a serioue one for him. Nothing is known about the origin of the fire. A neighbour had a rubbish fire burning during the day, but he asserts positively that that could not have been the cause of Mr Vincent's loss.
