The. half-yearly meeting of the South Canterbury District, A.Q.F., was held jit St. Andrews on, Thui'sday when, the following Courts w-ere reprtt<ehte<i.:. Court 3123 by Brothers Burford, Jones and Ellis;- Court 6073, Brother J. 'Williams; Court 7632, Brothers Tritves-and 'Hopkins ; Court 7929, - Brothers Dickson ai)vl Head. Correspondence was received. The auditors report and balance-sheet ,were pre-, sented by (Senior Brother A. Wilson. The report congratulated the members on the successful results of the halfyear's operations, the calls on the funeral fund being very light, only £44, one member and two wives- having died.. For-the corresponding period last year the amount paid out was £136. Financialy all the funds showed a substantial increase, and it was trusted that they would long continue to do so. On the motion of Delegates Williams and Head, the report aiid balance-sheet were* unanimously adopted,' and a hearty vote of thanks accorded the auditors for their able and • concise rbport. ■ ; ' '

Bro. Emery's notice of motion re meet-, ing at Mprven was seconded by Bro. Hopkins, was put to'the meeting and carried unanimously, that next' year the district meetings be held at Morven and -that Court Star of Waihao nominate the district officers. , ••. . •

Court Foresters sent up the qtiestion/of privileges of members of Friendly Societies at Hanmer. Af.er considerable comments had been made the secretary was:instructed to write to Mr W.,\V. Tanner* M.P. on the subject. " -

W. Tanner, member, for Avon, had been nominated by the United Canterbury District. The delegates were all infavour of the suggestion, and decided to support the- nomination of Mr ;. Tanner.Another question was the appointment, of a member to the Legislative' Council to ~ represent Friendly Sociedes, and the meet-' ing was in favour of this, when the next*' appointments are made, being given effect
