DUNEDIN, July 17.
Frozen snow five feet deep nd jn places higher than the funnels of the engines lies between Wedderburn and Oturehua. A single engine with a snow rjlough was derailed frequently so two engines coupled worked the plough, to-day. Getting an engine length further each rush,two miles, were ploughed in 12 hours. The official are: doubtful if the line will be cleared by Monday. A train leaves Clyde daily for Oturehua but cannot get beyond the latter station. Snow ploughs are now at work clearing the line. The ground is bo hard that it turns-the points of pickaxes. No s'ii6w fell to-day. Advice has been received that the Government have consented to rail free of charge stock from any district of Taieri and rail feed to any pari, atfec.ed bv 'the iloods.
