THE WOOL EXPORT.

—m^. —■ AN ESTIMATED INCREASE. The wool year, -ending last mouth, shows, according to iigur.s compiled by Messrs Dalgety and Co., ~n increase in over-sea shipments of 9ib,j -,-a c.-;. Up to the end of May there was a dtcrease of 6404 bales, but the big shipiienfc of last month, an increase of 16,2b/ bales over the quantity exported in the corresponding month of last year, brought the figures around to an increase. The amount exported does not, of course, represent the total production. It is 6aid that there is still a big quantity held in private* woolsheds and public stores in the South. Gne authority estimates that were the export figures to include shipments from August to September (the true wool year, in his opinion) the total amount of Wool expound and to be exported would show an increse of fully 20,000 bales over the previous corresponding period. The increase in flocks of the Dominion, according to last year's figures, was fully 700,OUO, which necessarily means' a corresponding increse in the wool exports, from ihe figures below it will be seen that the North Island is responsible for the whole of the increase:
