GERALDINE STOCK SALE.

Yesterday the entry of sheep was a very email one not more than 1000 being yarded. The demand for good sorts showed an improvement, especially for hoggets, which advanced about Is per head. The principal sales were as under: —Fat lambs 30 at 13s 3d, 17 at 13s lOd, 18 forward do. at 12s 7d, 99 store lambs :>t 8s 3d, 37 f-bred do. at 3s; fat ewes 22 at 12s lid, 24 at) 10s, 14 at 12s, 14 at 7s 6d, 9at 10s Id; 48 aged ewes in lamb at 9s 5d and a small line of wethers at 13s 6d. Store sheep sold •well as did fat lambsi Beef showed little or no change. Fat pigs were Tather didl of sale, and stores were in good demand. Sheep.—The yarding of -store 6heep was » fairly large one, and was made up of very good hoggets and ewes of varying quality, including some of a better clats than those -usually, entered, and several lines of wethers. *The demand throughout was good, ewes and hoggets meeting with most enquiry, and for these prices were about Is to Is 6d per head above last week's rates, a good clearance being effectied. The best line of ewes offered was 121 2-tooth halfbreds (Romney merino cross), and they changed hands at 235; another line of 2-tooth ewes 17s 9d; other lines of 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb IBs to 20s; low conditioned lots 12s to 13s 6d, and others 10s to lis 6d. Forward wethers sold at 15s to 16s 6d. There was an entry of about 400 fat lambs of fair average quality, and there was a. good sale throughout for all well finished lots- Tegs made 17s 2d to 18s lOd, ;i few extra to 20s, ordinary freezers 13s to 16s 6d and lighter lCs 6d to 12s 6d. There was a large entry of fat sheep including a good proportion of prime ewes and wethers. Competition was chiefly confined to the butchers whose supplies were short in consequence of the small yarding ther-week before. The export buyers were able to make few purchases within their limits and the rise in values of the previous week was well maintained. Cattle.—There was' a small entry of dairy cattle which were mostly dry cows in low condition. Eighteen months cattle sold at 275, yearlings 13s to 17s, and dry cows 20s to 5C6, good dairy cows £3 10s to £8 10s. Tho yarding of fat cattle totalled 341 head, ;i considerable proportion being heifens, and there were some lines of very good steers. The range of prices was—Steers £6 10s to £ll, extra to £l2 12s 6d. heifers £5 15s to £8 10s, rows £4 17s 6d to £8 ss, extra £ll 15s. calves 4s 6d to 5s 6d.

l?igs.—There was a larger entry of pigs than for a fen- -weeks, and fats -were rather easier, but there was a. better demand for stores. Choppers made up to £4 10s, heavy bacouers 60s t" 675, lighter 44s to 50s, heavy porkers 53s to 455, lighter 28s to 355; large stores 30s to 365, medium 20s to 275, weancrs 12s to 17s. BUBNSIDE STOCK MARKKT. Cattle.—2l3 head were yarded, only a small proportion being of best quality, ■which realised fnll market values; medium and inferior were in onlv fair demand. Best bullocks £ll to" £ll lCs, medium £6 10s to £7 ss, best tows and heifers £7 10s ib £8 10s. extra £9 15s, medium £6 10t> to £7, inferior £5 to £5 10s. Sheep.—33l9 were yarded, and pr'nvs except for best wethers were not quite so good as last week. Best 20s to 22s 6d, extra heavy (show sheep) 30s to 51s 6d, good weiihers 17s 6d to 19s, light 15s to 16s 6d, best ewes 16s to 17s 6d, extra 19s, medium 13s 6d to 14s 9d, inferior 8s 6d to lis. Lamb?— Only 300 were yarded; prices for good quality were the same as last week, but anything not fit' for freezing was very hard of sale. Best 159 6d to 16s 6d, medium 13is to 14s, inferior 10s to 12s.

Pigs—llo were varded. Puckers sold at, 12s 6d to 14s, slips 15s to 19s, stores 2.5s tto 28s>, porkers 38s to 435, light baconers 35s to 50s. heavv 53s to 65s 6d. DUXEDJN GRAIN MARKET. S'till no business is passing in wheat a? millers will not advance and vendors will not reduce reserves. Fowl wheat is in fair demand at about late rates.
