EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION.
The members of the South Canterbury Emplovers' Association were successful yesterdav afternoon in getting a good meeting,* there being about twenty members present, Mr M. White presiding. The meeting was called mainly to pass the proposed rules, which were practicallv the 6ame as those in force in C'hristehureh. They were approved at. a former meeting, and on the motion of Messrs Newman and Old were adopted. The election of an executive committee was proceeded with, ami the following were chosen:—Messrs F. Cartton (chairman S.C. Coaldealers' Association), W. G. Irwin (timber merchants), J. Radcliffe Uabinetmakeis), K. G. Turner (flourmillers), M- White and T. D. Young (grainstores), A. Bascand (drapers), F. Candied YV. W. Baxter (frozen meat", industry), J. Young (bakers), R. R. Bowie (grocers), J. Mcßae (woollen mills), C. \V. Wood (evele makers), R. fchillito (builders), G.'R. Joyce (newspapers), R. Parr (engineers), P. Palleson (sbipchandleib), H. Harris (fellmongers), A. Davidsou (carriers), W. G. Campbell (traction engines). Thus closed the general meeting, and a meeting of tlie executive was then held. Mr M. White was elected president; Messrs G. B. Joyce and K. G. Turner, vice-presidents; treasurer, Mr A. W. Baecand. The positions of secretary and auditor were not filled pending the drawing up of conditions by a sub-committee which was appointed. The Bank of New Zealand were selected .-,ji the association's bankers. '' 4. yote of thanks to Mr White for presiding, brought the meeting to a termination. ..
