At .the Democratic Convention, Mr Bryan7 at the first baljot, received 892 votes, Judge Gray 59,. and Governor .John' ston 46' Mr . Brvan'.s nomination - was then, made- unanimous.

When tilie nominator described All Bryan as the choice of the militant democratic convention, there was cheering and the wildest 1 enthusiasm. Innumerable flags were waved, - and a white:, dove was released above the platform. - ' A great -portrait of Mr Bryan was lowered from the roof, and was the signal for " fresh cheering and the grouping oi banners round Mr Bryan s party. The platform unanimously adopted includes a tariff -plank demanding tha immediate re-vision-and reduction of import duties, the graidual restoration of the tariff, to a revenue;. basis, and declares ■ fcliat arhcfoj competing, with trust-controlled products should forthwith be placed on the free.list. Duties on the necessaries of life must, be materially reduced, especially, on articles competing with. American manufactures that- are sold cheaper abroad man at home. .
