FAIRLIE RACING CLUB.
The' annuaul meeting of the Fairbe Racing Club was held on July 2nd; The chairman (Mr James Burriett) expressed great pleasure at seeing/, such a good number. attend, which, wasa. good indication that the sport was becoming more popular iri the district, and if the clufc was supported as it should be there was nothing to prevent them giving tl £2OO programme within the near futuie. The secretary read the balance sheet,, which showed after all accounts had' been paid a balance to the good on the year's work, which was considered very satisfactorv after the stakes had raiised to £l2O. : ' • ' The following officials were elected - for the year: —President, Mr A.. S. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs .Manaton, Ward, Crampton, 'Skinner, McDonald, OTooie, R. Gillingham and . W. Wright; • handicapper, Mr W- J- Binney; starter, Mr. J. Caskey; stewards, Messrs .Waters, 1). Fraser, Sutherland, E. Doyle, v Ji McGregor and H. Struthers. '■ A hearty vote of -thanks was passed to Messrs Gillingham Bros, for kindly; giving the use of their paddock to hold the meeting in; also to Messrs O'Toole and Nolan for the substantial way in' which cliey helped the club. |
A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated a very successful meeting.
