Twenty Suffragettes at the Westminster Police, Court., were bound over in' a security of £2O each to keep Oie peace for a year, in default a month's imprisonment ; five were bound over in . two securities of £25 each to keep the peace for a year, in default three months' imprisonment; one was bound over in £lO to keep the peace for six months ; and one ■was discharged. Lord Russell, in defending one of the Suffragettes contended that 'their opinions regarding the franchise were tantamount to J religious belief entitling them 'to imprisonment as first division misdemeanants.
