'.-..-. ■''..,. . The main question involved -was whether States. were liable under the Federal Customs Act to,pay duty,on goods ihey themselves imparted. .--,.■■•■' ' -■-- ■."-. The Court unanimously found that lie Customs Act applied 1 to goods imported by the Governments of the States. The removal of the wire-netting was illegal and there was no defence.to this action. Counsel for the Commonwealth asked, that only a minimum penalty be imposed. Judgment .was entered for plaintiff for £5 and costs.
