STEALING BOILERS.
ALLEGED CONNIVANCE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 16. At the Juvenile Court to-day two boys were charged with the theft oi seven copper boilers from various places in South Dunedin and St. Kilda. Accused pleaded guilty. On the application of the police they were remanded until the 2Ctli inst., in view of proceedings against second-hand dealers for receiving the boilers knowing them to have been stolen.
Subsequently in the ordinaiy Court Robert- Weils, marine store dealer, was charged with receiving four of the boilers. Chief Detective Herbert said it would be proved that this> man went round the houses, located boiler* in accessible places, and then sent small children to steal them giving them a trifle to do it. He afterwards smashed up the boilers to destroy their identitv.
August Erickson was similarly charged. Chief Detective Herbert said" that- "this man, a licensed dealer in a somewhat larger way, purchased the boilers at- a higher price than Wells gave thus diverting this business to himself. Both accused were remanded to the 20th inst.
