Two squadrons of the 21st. Lancers who entered an amphitheatre ai the base of the Khapak Pass, 30 miles north-west of Peshawar, were suddenly fired on from all sides,- and two Avere wounded. The 57th and 59th Rifles were sent to support the Lancers, whereupon ■the enemy re tired. The paes was then occupied by the British.
